I managed to walk Gracie to-day.
I have been a few weeks away from Seven Forums, only checking occasionally in for PMs. I had a wonderful holiday with my dear Angie. Back home and online last Saturday.
Sunday night my sister from Finland called me, our mother had suffered a massive stroke Sunday evening home in Äkäslompolo (point A on linked map). Due to distances in Lapland, beyond Arctic Circle, paramedics needed to order an emergency helicopter to get my mother to hospital in time, with an ambulance it had taken too long (a few hundred kilometers).
But then the Finnish autumn weather showed its true character; due extreme fog and weather conditions the helicopter had to wait an extra half an hour to take off and get mother to university clinic in Oulu (point B on linked map).
My dear mother did not survive. The delay to get her to hospital was simply too long, stroke too massive. She passed away this morning. I had booked flights for this Thursday, which I just cancelled for as is usual in Finland, the funeral does not take place very soon. It will be on Saturday 13th or week later the 20th, so I am in no more hurry to book flights, but I might be absent again anyway.
I thank you all dear geeks and geekettes for your concern, thoughts and prayers.
Kari
