    Thanks Zid...I have invested enough in games, peripherals etc. that I am not going to jump to Sony's system.


    Thanks for the advice and walkthrough John. Most of what I've found so far does seem to point to those X-shaped braces being a major issue because they aren't solid enough to stand up to high heat conditions.

    I think before I put this system back together, I am going to have to take a trip to the hardware store. Barring any further advice, I will report back tomorrow on my success, or lack thereof.
    If you manage to fix it please post your method and all materials used...I can use that info to fix my friend's

    Oh, believe me, I will. After all the research I've done tonight, if a few bolts and washers fix it, I would be happy to pass on the knowledge to anyone I could.
