    my gripe of the day......

i had to chop down a 40ft (10tonne) tree today, but b/c of the way it had grown i could only get the chainsaw in the front of it.

all was well until it started to crack & i realized it was twisting (due to the uneven spacing of the branches), but at that point i had no choice but to run.....

the tree fell clean across the garden, straight through the fence & onto the neighbors patio doors....

luckily by the time it reached the doors it was only thin swaying branch that brushed along the glass, but the fence was destroyed...

that was the last time i saw a cup of tea....lol
My dad had to cut down a tree in front of our house, and it was pretty big. Not too tall, but really branch heavy.
So he took the chainsaw to it, and tied a rope to the top, gave it to me, and told me to pull so it would land in the driveway. Only problem was that the trunk bent in half the OTHER direction. The tree started to fall, I let go so I didn't learn to fly, and it fell and crushed our 10 foot cactus in half.

You should have hung in there - probably would have gotten a new rig to play with while you were recovering...

Actually, you did the right thing. Experts are around for a reason. :)
