When Neal stepped off the ladder on the moon, I saw it live on my tv. I'll never forget the elation I felt .
Condolences to his family and friends.

    oh
I've always been more of a Buzz Aldrin fan myself, but to think that the first person to set foot on the moon is dead... feels a bit like a step backwards that that man is now dead and we still haven't set foot anywhere else off this planet. An undeniable shame, as imagine the stories he could tell... that's rather an unrivaled first place for "greatest stories able to tell" what with being the first person on the moon, and now nobody can hear them

Still one of the most amazing things in my lifetime when they landed and walked on the moon. RIP Neil. A Guy

Not something that can be repeated - first person to set foot on another planetary object - so goes down in history as a hero of exploration. Watched either the landing or the moon-walk at college in the evening but can't remember which - in the UK.

Another great historic icon gone, rest in piece Mr Armstrong.

we can only hope that in the future we can create new icons for equally great deeds.
