    How Do You Write Notes?

Howdy everyone. I was curious about something which has now become a rare thing here in the UK. I've noticed people have started to use Tablets and phones to write notes. What happened to a good old ball point pen? I like writing with an ink pen. I'm twenty two and love making a mess and getting ink all over the place.

Do you still use a real pen or have you jumped onto the digital pages of the modern day?

I agree. There should be more options. I use pen and paper, a digital recorder (easier to operate onehanded than my phone, which is turned off all the time anyway), and my computer at home. I have called home and left a message before. I frequently use the little camera I keep in my purse as a portable scanner; it's easier than taking notes.

I always have a pad at my side while on the computer and jot down anything with a pencil on that, like phone numbers, prices etc. Don't really go out so don't need to take notes.

    Hi Marsh Captain
Taking notes by pen and paper is what my generation did as a matter of course. I'm 67 and in my Primary school days, a class of around 45 kids was forced to sit and write in what was called 'Copperplate' - writing out each letter of the alphabet in a flowing longhand, then eventually writing sentences and stories the same way. By the time we were 8 we could do it without thinking, because we learned the 3 "R's" by rote, parrott-fashion. That is why I continue to write notes by hand, the way my mind developed as a child, means that I remember stuff best if I write it down. Problem now is that my rheumatoid- and osteo- arthritis, makes it difficult to write for long periods, whilst using a keyboard is much easier. Second problem is my overstuffed memory, I need more storage!

My 2 kids use a mixture of note-taking, by hand and by computer. 3 of my 4 grandchildren use their smartphones or computers, often switching stuff between the two. (4th is only 7, will probably do the same, or plug it directly into her quick brain in time!) All 4 have awful handwriting, but then they don't need it, right? If they leave us a note, I ask them to use block letters. Mostly they E mail me.

I am fascinated by the way human communication is developing. Does anyone else of my generation notice, as I do, that the younger people are beginning to use faster speech? I sometimes have to ask the older g-kids, to slow down their speech, often they sound as if they are speaking a different language. Not alone in this, several people over, say, 45, have said the same.

    Evolution in action!

I love kids, used to be one myself!

It really depends on what's closest.
if i can find a pen and paper quickly I use those
if i'm in front of my computer then I use Sticky notes
Otherwise I'll use memopad on my blackberry.
