Have my wheel set to "double-click" when pushed.

Double click. It was default, and I got used to it. I also set mine to super fast because I can click that fast. So mine is like twice as fast to open as default. Why not?

Anyways, I have found that there is a correlation to ease of clicking and age. Older people (no offense) tend to like single click, because they move slower and more deliberately (like my dad), and (some) have shaking hands that cannot click very fast or double click at all.
Younger people (like me, 17) click at a ridiculous rate. I also move through things so fast that if single click was on, I would have like 100 programs start opening as I navigate to a folder....

So for me it is more of a safety thing too.

    Old people huh? Single.

just gave em a little more of a chance before reverting back to things like quick launch.
Nothing wrong with quicklaunch. I personally dont like the stuff pinned to the taskbar because when i open things i like them in order on my bar, not grouped because i like fast access to my stuff instead of hoving over to pick from another menu and so on.

On topic, double click for me. I grew up with that being the only option, among other reasons, all of which have been listed. Mis-clicking opening programs, renaming, etc.

Using an 8 button mouse (MX Revolution for the win) with 5 of those at your thumb gives you many options, but i havent yet changed one to double click yet... maybe ill give that a shot.

I don't understand. One can put the items pinned to taskbar in any order one wants and they never move unless you deliberately rearrange them. This to me is a huge improvement because one always knows exactly where those items that are pinned to the taskbar are going to be. They don't move around anymore based on what's open or closed. And it's real easy to see whether a program is open or closed just by the way the icon is "lit up" or highlighted (or whatever the proper terminology for that may be ).

Well, at least it's great that W7 gives us all these options to configure it exactly (or almost exactly) the way we each want to.

Indeed. That is one of the best features.
This thread sort of amuses me, because we get such differing opinions. Sometimes the odd person will flame another saying that theirs sucks and they should use their method. The great thing about it is that we can use all these different methods.
