I agree as well. I don't let the sniffles keep me off work (although I won't be back until next Wednesday, as the Library is closed between Christmas and the New Year).

My chest, however, might be a different thing, as I think I've got a hematoma plus localised swelling which makes it impossible to lie on that side due to the pain. I've already had 2 ultrasound scans, but the results aren't clear enough. I'm currently waiting for an MRI or CT scan, which should show what the problem is in better detail. Depending on the results of that scan, it looks likely that I might need an operation on it. If that is the case, and I think it's quite likely as it isn't getting better on its own, then I could be off work for at least a month (or until the Doctor says I'm fit to return).

Give me toothache any day. At least, I'm able to resolve that pain relatively quickly (If in doubt, whip it out!), but I've had the other since before November, and I feel that it's about time something was done about it.

    Dwarf,
Sorry to hear about your hematoma plus localised swelling and the delay in getting something done about it.
Is it a fluid mass or something more severe?
Take care my friend and here's hoping the New Year will bring better health to you.

I think I've done it by having something heavy in my bag (2 x 2 litre bottles of pop), as the strap runs directly over the affected area. I've tried putting the bag over the other shoulder, but it just doesn't feel right.

From what the ultrasound reveals, and this isn't very clear which is why they want a more detailed scan, it is a build up of fluid, probably blood from a torn muscle or blood vessel in the muscle. The problem is that, unlike a bruise which is venous and soon dissipates, this looks as though it could be arterial, hence it seems to swell up more during the day (it's worst in the evening than the morning). Whatever the cause, it certainly warrants more investigation.

Thanks, I've resigned myself to the fact that there is unlikely to be any action until the New Year.

I just heard that the Thunderbirds creator has died. I used to love watching them and I had a hand-made model of number 4. Also I have seen the Pink Rolls-Royce in real life and it is huge.

Here is the link: BBC News - Gerry Anderson, Thunderbirds creator, dies
