It is easy to understand why people on the other side of this big pond don't like metric system. Why complicate things, like one kilometer = 1,000 meters, one meter = 10 decimeters, one decimeter = 10 centimeters, one centimeter = 10 millimeters when you can have it simple using imperial measurements one mile = 5,280 feet or 1760 yards, one yard = 3 feet, one feet = 12 inches.

Even more complicated would be the mass and volume measures. Thank Goodness no one can force people to learn the complicated way like one kilogram = 1,000 gram and one liter = 10 deciliters, one deciliter = 10 centiliters, one centiliter = 10 milliliters when it's so much easier and more logical with one pound = 16 ounces or one gallon = 8 pints, one pint = 16 fluid ounces.

Not to mention how idiotic it is to say water freezes in 0 degrees and boils in 100. It's more logical to say freezing point is 32 degrees and boiling point 212.

Yeah well, each to his own - thing is the gallon for instance is different in the US than the UK and so on and so on when all measurements can be sorted around an irrefutable fact of physics and that is the weight of water but I suppose rocket science isn't everyones forte

So why don't we all go back to pounds shillings and pence and ditch cents and dollars or whatever that DECIMAL system is using ?? Ever noticed that in the US talking of distance it is miles and measuring short distances say in car crashes or such metres are used - theres' a nonsense for starters.

Temperatures are of subjective and even the Kelvin was left out of that comment Kari.

It's funny how some things are. We have 2 liter bottles of soda. Bottled water is listed as 16.9 fl oz (1.05 pints) because of course they are 500mL. Wine and liquor come in 750 mL bottles. Engine sizes are listed in liters instead of cubic inches (or as well as). Of course the storage for PCs is in various bytes, etc. When I was in grade school, we were started on learning metric because the plan was to switch. There were concerns some would use the switch to charge more for less, etc. Then it just mostly went away. A Guy

92 high, down to 61 low (33/16 for the rest of the world) tomorrow Mojave Desert. We've had higher and the brunt of summer hasn't even started. We often get into the beginning of triple digits come the peak of summertime and more.
