Yep I agree Bill but there are still some that have been in here for some time and still do it.

I still don't know what the stars are for though

The stars? You mean the Medals?

In addition, there are 3 levels of medals - Bronze, Silver and Gold, once you have 4 bronze, then your next will go up to the next level and onto Silver, etc.

May I second that idea for a Hardware Team badge. Our hardware Gurus are some of the best but aren't as readily considered for MS awards since their focus is not as directly the OS. They should have some type of in-house award to recognize them for their excellence.

It could strengthen and coalesce our Hardware forum which would be a good thing. When I need Security help I post in Security. When I need Hardware help I PM the experts who are more dispersed.

Re 'rep-begging', I'd never even considered that my sig could be taken that way.

My intent was to remind people to rep anyone who helped them.

    But, I'll remove it anyway.

    Wenda.

    EDIT: Done!

My previous personal comment for example Wenda was not aimed at the refs like yours more those that still have it on theirs that do exactly what you did not intend.
I think it is time the rep ref was banned as I think it rather belittling to have it even mentioned.
As Britton said if one thinks someone is worth the rep then surely one would have the common sense to just do it out of purely a choice of theirs to do is and not because they have been reminded that the option is available.
Personally I think a lot of new comers see that message and are sometimes a little over eager to give rep if they have been helped on their first post, not really fully understanding the system.
That of course is not their fault and I am not saying that they should not give rep but maybe more it is down to enthusiasm to be part of this really great forum.
On a final note like Britton said I personally give rep where I don't think it is deserved and definitely not to those who ask for it because I think it demeans that person in a sense but that is just my own personal view on how one should behave or go about ones business.:)

Looks like you earned the guru badge a few days ago, I don't think it was posted yet.

Congrats to robin9 on the GURU badge
