WEI came out with Vista to help people find out if they had adequate hardware to run Vista.
Vista required fairly high end hardware when it came out, one of the reasons a lot of people don't like it. This was published to let people know if they didn't have the recommended hardware required to run the new OS. A lot of people didn't and are still angry at MS because their hardware couldn't run Vista.
Well I know on this machine, it came with Vista pre-installed, the thing that let the score down was having onboard graphics. This is still true now I have Windows 7 on the same machine.
It's mainly in the gaming score but as I don't play games it doesn't bother me in the least everything else runs fine so I'm not particularly worried about having a couple of low marks.
Some friends from California came to visit and got snowed in with us.
Today... I reinstall Windows 7 x64 on my laptop again (3 times now) :)
Today I've just finished a repair install - apart from a few drivers for occasional hardware.
Found some strange things happening and eventually tied it down - every entry in the task scheduler was missing
must have pruned the system a bit too hard
