My distinguished fellow guru, may I point out an error in your statement: When we (civilized metric system) have already 2.54 units (cm) snow, you (medieval imperial system) only have 1 unit (inch). One inch equals 2.54 cm. Ergo, we get snow two point five four times faster.

Hey, don't include me on that, I am a metric guy trapped in a Imperial system... I could never understand it, why sometimes you divide by 16, sometimes by 12? They couldn't get to an agreement?
Regarding the snow speed discussion, maybe I put a foot into it...

Regarding your metric system...I can't understand your mesurements either

1 inch is 2.54 cm which begs the question of why the cm measure up to an inch in a very odd measurement (2.54 is very strange)

It all comes down to the region and we learn in very odd ways. Should there be a global system for this? Yes!

Actually, the inch was defined after some King's thumb measurement (don't know if the same they used the foot too). And it measured 2.54cm. May be a legend.

You got it wrong, Zid What's odd is that 1 centimeter is 0.3937 inch!

    Personally, I find a bit confusing to remember that 1 mile = 1 760 yards = 5 280 feet = 63 360 inches. It is easier to think 1 kilometer = 1 000 meters = 100 000 centimeters.

To add for confusion, 1 kilometer is 0.6214 miles and 1 mile is 1.609344 kilometer.
