I just downloaded what was supposed to be newest free version 6 but when I started the install it said "Trial version 5.0" so backed out. Then went back to site to double check myself & as far as I can tell I didn't click wrong. And in further reading it kinda looks like there is 'no free version' anymore. Very confusing site to me anyway.

Anyone else try it? With what result?

    Thanks,
    grits

Make sure you choose Custom or Advanced install, maybe there is an option that way?

I'm not sure 'cuz as soon as I saw "Trial version 5" I backed out. I just now went back to site & went thru the FAQ & found where I'd read that maybe the free version has been pulled. I'm sure disappointed 'cuz like Bigmck, I'd really like to have Smilies for my email & a better variety to use for posts here. I was quite jealous of all the 'goodies' that were used to wish Kari a happy b/day.

You can right click a smiley, animated or static, then Save As a .gif to be able to use it. Try it on this one:

Photobucket is also a good site to search for free ones too.

Sorry to hear you had problems with the site. I'd let my membership lapse, probably because I didn't get a notice it was up for renewing, but before then had bought the USB drive that contained the program plus all the packs available at that time, which was actually quite a few.

I'd got it when I was using my Windows 7 machine but I'm now using them on my Windows 8 Notebook.

Joan -- You were the one who steered me to Smileycons. I downloaded it and am using them. The one thing I don't like about them is that they have the arm's and hands on them. I like the head only like here. Since you had a Smileycon subscription, I just wondered if that gave you access to a different smiley, maybe with only "Heads"? Thanks,
