Yes I know mate I am lucky being born before that date and having one of the best super schemes going and I was lucky getting in on that ten months before the greedy state government pulled the pin

What gets up my nose is that the pollies want (they say) people to work on after the retirement age and now working conditions have got so restrictive and by that I mean the Workcover stuff and professional work requirements have become so untenable that people do not want to work on after they can retire.

It also gives me the trots when they spout about building more hospitals and schools and providing more staff for them when there is just not enough to go around as it is. It simply does not make any sense and makes such fools of those who delight in telling the public this when they (in my mind) have no idea of what the situation is or understand what is involved in individuals working in those environments stuck up there in the ivory towers slurping over the freebie lunches

Plus in any case there are those who are incapable of working on after the retirement age - no thought about those poor devils.

As for the savings yes it stinks when it is taxed because it has been taxed already if only we knew, and even the invested side of your savings you are required to draw 5% of it every year - cannot work out why when it would save the government some of the old age pension that people will inevitably draw

Still taking over the thread again so I will jump off my soapbox

Just changed my vote since I am older now lol. I am 34 and still young haha. I'm glad I joined here in December 2009 :).

As I get older, I shall still be here :).

Thank You! And I am also re-habbing from my second knee replacement! First one done in 2012. Better to get it done now than wait until I'm old!!! Ha-Ha!! I will soon be completely bionic!!

Hmm know what you mean still rehabbing (at home now) my broken femur form just after Christmas and it doesn't get any easier the older you get.

One tip for any of the younger members reading this is keep up your calcium intake and your 15 minutes of sun per day and if your diet is restricted there's always calcium and vit D supplements - too late when you are over 40!! If you personally are concerned ask the doc but for the average person after 40+ years as a health professional I feel this is good advice and some I wished I had heeded to now because the rehab would not have taken so long. .
