Ya that isn't to bad and can the quailty be brought up on that with more work?
Yeah, the edges could be softened or blurred. Jerry has some fairly fancy PS add ons he bought too.
I'm not really making a 3-D object, like the orb in my last wallpaper is just many layers with the mode set to overlay or penlight etc. using dark shadows on the bottom and light shadows at the top to give it that round look, I also use the Spherize filter to give it that bulging out look is.
Them fancy add-ons do help quite a bit
I use Paint.net frequently. The next release of C7XX will be a Cloud Only release. No more Boxed sets.
It's expensive, but if you happen to be in school, you can usually get a good student discount. That actually applies to most any software.
You could also have a look at GIMP. I have both on my PC. GIMP automates a lot of things, since it's open source, people write scripts to automate processes, you can do something in one click whereas PS, you have to go through several steps. And it has 3D plug ins.
I enjoy playing with both of them, as well as Paint.net.
I know it is expensive, not worried about this. Like i said I just want some program can make 3D objects. (Text, Boxes etc)
Then a vector based program like Corel or Illustrator would be better for 3d text and shape manipulation (see image below) .... but if you wanted real 3D high quality professional stuff with lighting and so on then the likes of 3D max, K-3D, 3DPlus, 3D Canvas is what your looking for ... but remember programs like these are allot more challenging
Ok thanks. Would them programs need high end graphics cards? Like I said im not big into gaming on a pc, only console.
If you want to do High-end 3D rendering then yes a good quality (and very expensive) card is needed like these Quadro Graphics Cards but if you just want to create 3D text, spheres, cubes & shapes etc. then you should be ok with a decent card (not your cheapy no-name brand ones though) It's also advisable to have plenty of memory if you want to attempt to create very complex 3D images as these can take quite some time to render.
I wouldn't advise using a laptop when trying to do 3D rendering either
I don't think i will be doing rendering. I just want to make the shape and then maybe add it in to photoshop. I will just have to see, look around and see what the programs are like. Thanks for all your help and opinions :)
