Program to use instead of Microsoft WORD ?

My laptop came with a trial Microsoft Office ...... now I need something to open PPS, etc.
Any FREE program, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend Open Office, too. In my Opinion it is most similar to Microsoft Office.

Also avaliable as portable version, which can be very usefull:
OpenOffice.org Portable | PortableApps.com

I may also use the app for my tablet.

I would recommend Libre Office, Open Office versions are not being continued anymore, and I believe it also requires Java

so far it's looking really nice. plus it's a liter program. :)
