I wonder if these BIL gate things are susceptible to temperature very high or very low.

Few of that kind are used to process data. Most are only there to control the limbs.

To the best of my memory a long while back someone had a Bactria or Virus method of moving information but because of temperature effects it couldn't work in the range needed.
