Lady Pink sorry late reply but you can see nothing at all? not even that no signal now?

Could be something real simple too like just unplugging the cable and plugging it back in again or even just a new cable.

Whats is the model of the XP machine??

Hum not much coming up with that Lady Pink now when you put the extra RAM in did you happen to notice what motherboard was in if I am guessing it probably is an Intel of some sort - that number or ID would help things.

That will prove very useful LPt1, Belarc does a good job of identifying the make up of a computer and I'm sure ICit2lol will be able to help you with the information from that. :)

Gary hi... I've purchased a NEW HP 20" LED monitor/ cable... before asking for any help, trying to check to make sure the old monitor was really dead.. the NEW monitor with a new monitor cable will NOT work ,I get a small message on the screen saying "no signal"
I did try the Old monitor with the new cable as well.. it refuses to connect .
I sure hope I can get the XP working again.. it's my favorite , even tho I have this new laptop
    ( Windows 8 )
Thank you for replying , and your suggestion, I'm willing to try almost anything to get things working .:)
