Tamil: First ever Tamil song nominated for a Best original song Oscar

Malayalam: But this - the lyrics, almost similar - existed as long back as 1856 in a sister language.

Hmmmmm................ back in the days of my engineering course, it was a craze listening to Western Music and seeing Hindi films. All India Radio used to broadcast one hour of western music every Saturday night and there will be a crowd around the one room where a rich Guy had a radio and willingly donated the earful of music. It was all alien to me for my father never bought a radio till he saw me off to a distant college. :) Hindi films, yep, those were in vibrant colors and lilting tunes. One from the 1965 Hindi Film Guide, which Lavanya played here

Yep J love those saris I trained with an Indian Mauritian girl way back and worked up to recently with a doc who used to wear those beautiful things in those colours you cannot describe. I think the doc even fancied me a bit as she was always fishing for compliments on the sari colours
