Now an easy one. As the Seven Forums is a global, non-political and non-discriminating community I have decided to publish separate puzzles for for metric and imperial systems in order not to insult anyone's feelings. The order was decided by tossing coin so the fact that the metric puzzle is told before imperial one does not represent any ideologies but is a pure coincidence.

    Metric:
You need to measure exactly 8 liters of water to a bigger 9 liter container. How to do it when you only have a 5 liter and a 7 liter bowl at your disposal?

    Imperial:
You need to measure exactly 8 gallons of water to a bigger 9 gallon container. How to do it when you only have a 5 gallon and a 7 gallon bowl at your disposal?

S***. Correct answer but too easy .

I have edited the original puzzle to make it a bit more difficult.

Can you use the 9 litre container as well? If so:

    1. Fill up the 9 litre, pour 7 litres into the 7 litre container. Leaving 2.
    2. Pour the 2 into the 5 litre container
    3. Repeat to get another 2 litres in the 5 litre container, totalling 4
    4. Fill up the 9 litre then pour one litre out by filling up the rest of the 5 litre container

    :)

No, you can't use the 9 liter / gallon container. You need to find a way to measure 8 liters / gallons only by using the 5 and 7 bowls.
