Hear hear LJ trouble is what does one do about it?? We live in times of rhetoric and arrogance on the part of those who purport they are doing what they do for the common good.
It is especially galling when one also knows the ballot system is already rigged in favour of those who we really don't want or need in government. It will never be fair all the time the sun shines on this planet.
But I digress

What does one do about it?
Well, what I do is...I don't vote.
...and when people say to me, I have no right to speak/complain about politics because you didn't 'VOTE'
...I speak louder.

Lucky you mate we are fined for not voting out here and it is done on a preferential system that is if the candidate you vote for doesn't get in then that vote of yours goes to the next preferred candidate and it is usually one of the major party candidates it stinks but I digress yet again

Truth is everybody is going to hurt you: you just gotta find the ones worth suffering for.
