    Am at a loss

Am at a loss as to why people insist on using this garbage I recently saw a great niece (12 yo) of mine post onto my brothers facebook site a video of people being burnt to death in Kenya I think it was.

So how come this rotten site is allowed to carry on take a look Firm: Facebook 'bug' worse than reported; non-users also affected | ZDNet

IMHO, if I was your brother, I would have a long, long talk with his daughter and there would be a loss of privileges.

About facebook, it is unfortunately: a sign of the times Money walks, BS talks.
Personally my wife and I abhor social networking and neither of us would be caught dead on one.

Well, I did once, and that cured it for me. A few years back I wanted to try a program, but you had to join their facebook page to get it, what a mistake!
Emails and spam followed and when I had enough I finally found the unsubscribe button, that went better than I expected, but I started receiving spam telling me it was imperative that I check my security settings and it had a button designed to take me to the sign-in page. Yea, right!

That right there warns you there are bots scrubbing the site. It took a while but my filter won out, and if it starts up again I will know facebook still has my information and never deleted it.

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

The site has been corrupted by advertisements and the information that it holds on us as a society is unbelievable and really isn't necessary. The recent scare with PRISM and Tempora only just reinforces my perception of Facebook

Some of my friends insisted I should have a facebook acct.. so I joined to enjoy their company.
In no time I had all kinds of people wanting me to add them as a friend..had no idea who they were..
( I had mine set to private. ), I contacted my gf , who told me by using her suggestions how to emptie mine and then delete my acct. that's exactly what I did. Have never looked back !!!.. best thing or one of the best I've ever done.

Yes I agree absolutely Anak and everyone who has responded. It was actually his granddaughter that did this shameful thing.
I joined up many moons ago and very quickly deleted the account after I got unsolicited visits form people I had no idea from where I had known them In fact my circle of friends is very small so they were obviously out for attention - sad when you think about it.

My brother uses it mainly to keep up with ex army buddies (ex paratroopers) so I can see that is ok but it is the flood of filth and disgusting videos like the one I mentioned that he cannot avoid.

I did read somewhere a long time ago that the account is never truly delete in that the records still exist somewhere which is a very scary thing.

Personally I think it is about time that governments should take action against this form of detritus.

As for the really clever person or whatever who thought this rubbish up well he has some reckoning to do or perhaps he has no conscience at all

The question is do we want censorship to start with FaceBook and then go to what next. If a parent allows a child on FaceBook that is a problem that the parent should take care of. I wouldn't allow any child on such social web sites.

I use Facebook all the time but you have to think there are people out there just clicking on anything

It isn't Facebook's fault it is the user behind the controls you can simply turn a lot of that garbage off but if you're green to how to do it then you will get any and everything

it took me some time to get it right and i'll say once you learn how to stop alerts and only deal with certain parts of face book then it is all smooth sailing just like every other social app adds are what makes it run but you can also disable them too

Yeah but the sad thing we use it to talk to family abroad also with Skype but this is faster when you just want to leave a message and go

Youngsters to say the least go all over the place and most of the sites attract them and are full of viruses because lets face it all the cool stuff that is easy to find and easy to get is a preset to Virusville
