If this policy is one concerned with saving energy one interesting potential case would be that of someone who upgrades their old inefficient CRT TV to a large screen Plasma TV thus reducing consumption.

Simple Knee-jerk reactions rarely if ever work :)

In a constant energy crunch the State entertained a bid recently to create 3 wind farms that would have lessened their need for power by almost 15%...
Nancy Pelosi and her crew had the proposal shot down citing enviornmental impact concerns...

    California...land of fruits and nuts.
And some of them even get elected.

    Another one

    Q) What does California and a Granola Bar have in common ?

    A) If you take away all the fruits and Nuts all you've got left are the flakes.

(Mind you they don't have the monopoly of stupid politicians -- G. Bush, Tony Blair and Gordon Brown immediately spring to mind but the world is FULL of them. These 3 however were the most dangerous recently involving people in dubious wars without any purpose of what to actually do and with no exit strategy -- however that's definitely another topic as we're getting dubiously close to Politics).

    Cheers
