Hmm I wouldn't be worried about rep too much mate because in the long run in my mind it means not that much and I think it is more important you concentrate on helping others out rather than be eager to build up your rep. I often wonder why people get uptight about this rep and as I think is more important to be helpful rather let others see how much rep you have.
The rep by the way is being counted in a sort of way that shows in your replies as those green dots which turn into yellow ones etc etc - see the first page of this tutorial.
Now as I have been here for a long time I know that many of the really clever members and who are far superior to anything I can help out with have less rep than I have and in that - does that make them any less able to help out than me?? not in a million years. Yes it is nice for someone to rep you but by the same token what does being a participating member here mean to anyone?? - being repped or being helpful.
Just as a by the by there used to be a few members in this forum that used to actively ask for rep if the member thought they had helped them out and that is one of my pet hates to be honest because it smacks of self importance.
