I love his explanation for the # of viruses in OS9 versus OSX and it's irrelevance to market share.
He does however make a good point that after a number of years that Windows hasn't changed all that much...and we still do have the contend with viruses, malware, spyware and the like.
1. You can upgrade from XP to 7, there is just no direct upgrade path.
2. Windows 7, defeated? LOL. Yeah, right.
3. That guy drinks his water a lot.
4. Isn't it the game designers choice whether to create a game in OpenGL or DirectX?
5. Dangerous? Scared to death? Thats why almost everyone (don't know the exact market share) uses Windows? Like OS X doesn't need vulnerability patches.
6. "Peace of mind that I'm on a mac and safe." Also the insanity of compatibility.
7. Windows 7 doesn't suck, YOU suck.
Thats all my comments to that video.
You do realize that Microsoft has been trying very hard to fix what is broken for the past 15+ years with Windows. To pretend that there aren't issues is really pointless. Anybody who has ever used Windows realizes that there certainly are issues to contend with.
There have been viruses in the past for Apple operating systems. However, coming from a base of BSD and Unix...it has been designed as a multi-user OS with security in mind long before Windows even existed. There are core design elements, like not running as admin and having things chrooted which provide so much of the inherent security features of the OS. Microsoft has tried to implement some of these things themselves...unfortunately the initial rollout of UAC was so poor that tons of people simply turned it off and won't even consider seeing what things are like with it on.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Windows...I've used it for years and I support it professionally. I don't own a Mac, and won't likely purchase one anytime soon because of the cost involved. However, there is always room for improvement and innovation in Microsoft Windows. Hence the reason that I really like the fact that OSX and Linux is getitng at least some portion of the market...Competition in this area can only help the consumer.
I thinks he's the donought....
3 mins into that was enough for me - It's the longest consecutive amount of time I've ever listened to a MAC fanboi speak. Hopefully it will be the last
