Getting Drunk Tonight - Iceland made it to 2014 Playoffs

Hi there
For small country like ours even to THINK of going to the World Cup is usually totally beyond any possible semblance of reality -- but we actually came SECOND in the group -- played Norway tonight 1-1 (away too) and qualified for the play offs.

Well surprising things happen -- even if we don't make it to Brazil --well done . !!!

If we do make it -- good excuse for a nice plane trip to Rio.


If you took the Old Trafford stadium in Manchester (where Man utd play) or the UK National Stadium at Wembley in London the whole population of Iceland would only fill the stadium just over three and a half times !!!.

Belgium has the most impressive team with such young talent. I think they will go far in the 2014 World Cup

Thanks -- can't wait to see who we get -- I think we might have a fighting chance against anybody except France who are looking good -- I wouldn't mind having a go against the Portuguese or wiping the smile of Sweden (although do they ever smile in that country !!).

Well done England too -- I looked at the highlights of that game --seems atmosphere at Wembley was really good - although I'll bet there were a few anxious faces in the crowd until they got their first Goal.

Belgium are also looking a great team --funny how they seem to have sprung from nowhere into a quite decent outfit.

Anyway even if we don't make it I'm still going to the playoff whoever we get and wherever it's played -- a trip to Portugal though would be nice -- could also practice some Portuguese for Rio 2014 - although getting there is a totally different Ballgame. We've a couple of world class players as anybody who watches Tottenham will know but it's now in the lap of the Gods.

How did this planet ever survive without Football --the version with GOALS and a ROUND ball. - Whatever else you say about the UK -- at least it's beyond doubt they invented football --still the most popular team game on the planet and the source of how many trillions of hours of dicussions in Bars all over the world on who should play, how bad the referee was, "we should have had a penalty", etc etc. !!!
