Had a not very pleasant day at University Hospital's sleep clinic today. Although I had to do nothing else than read, watch DVDs and try to relax, I was all the time (over 8 hours) connected to various instruments which made finding a relaxing position to sit or lie down, go to rest room and so on quite difficult.
Unpleasant but something I have to see through, a cure must be found be the cause physical or simply in my head. According to my "sleep diary" I am asked to keep, I've slept between Friday 6 AM and now Tuesday 1 AM (91 hours, 3 nights and 4 days) a grand total of 6.5 hours. It's not accurate time as I have to estimate the time when I fell asleep but accurate enough to give an idea. I function but only barely. When talking to my dear Angie I'm using a mix of both my native languages Finnish and Swedish, English and German. As she only speaks and understands German she cannot comprehend what I am saying.
Took a long walk just now, after midnight, thinking it might help me to get sleep. But no, it only made me feel more alert. So here I am, at almost half past one AM preparing myself for again another night surfing the Interwebs.
Sorry to hear that Kari, that's not much sleep my friend. I did suggest whisky in the past, which didn't work. How about a glass of some good German beer? Not as tasty but it's another thing that makes me sleep, but I drink very little alcohol. I think beer has something with the same effect as tryptophan, a milk and poultry protein, does.
Whisky and beer or wine do not help, I'd have to get really wasted (enough to pass out) for alcohol to help me sleep and that's not something I want to do.
Right, passing out isn't good.
how about warm milk, chocolate, hot tea? The milk can be cooled after warming to taste better.
I find warm food when I'm tired sends me off, I come home from work around 6.30am have a quick shower then something like a Beacon Butty + Cup of Tea then jump in bed with Max snuggle up and I'm gone :)
Happy Holi Dinesh and all
Kari, you are in my thoughts. I feel for you, you must be quite frazzled!
