Today, I purchased and installed covers for the turbine vents on my roof. The vent on the right was damaged in a storm so it squeaks and rattles when it spins. Not very conducive to a good night's sleep.

Don't worry about it we all do that from time to time!
Seriously though are you not insured for storm damage?

Yeah, mortgage company insists upon insurance, can't fathom why...

A new turbine vent is about $40 and I can install it myself, and that turbine was the only thing damaged so repair costs don't even come close to the deductible. But, since it's getting cold, I was going to cover the vents anyway. I'll wait until spring to replace the turbine. Probably replace both of them so that they match

Today I went to the hospital to have a wisdom tooth removed.
A five minute procedure which took them over an hour to do

I planned today as a "work on my thesis" day, but it seems that instead of that it'll be a "lay on the couch and do nothing" day

You must have been very wise! I remember having 2 wisdom teeth removed, then going back to work. Other then a mouth full of gauze, it wasn't too bad. Hope you'll be wise enough to work on your thesis later

My thesis is about how international law and UN treaties effect Dutch parliamentary decision and ratification.

No idea if I translated that correctly, but the Dutch title is "De effecten van internationale wetgeving en VN verdragen op de Nederlandse parlementaire besluitvorming en ratificatie".
