Always made my hot toddies with fresh orange juice, (no Sugar), and clove studded Orange wedge, The OJ gives a good shot of vitamin C which helps, and the clove clears the head

Fresh lemons, cloves and honey along with the whisky and hot water in mine, sometimes I add a little ginger and cinnamon if I can spot it near the front of the cupboard.
