Why ONE YEAR difference in some DVD releases

    Hi there
You think Hollywood would have got the point by now -- WHY are we STILL seeing DVD releases with A YEAR APART -- in any case the whole regionalisation thinghy is totally absurd these days with fast Internet download, cheapish international travel and portable devices for consumption of multi-media --in any case VLC will play NTSC DVD's these days quite happily on any European laptop / TV.

Software like AnyDVD - legal in most countries will remove regional encoding anyway and convert the DVD to a mountable ISO so that the DVD can be played on devices that don't have a DVD player as well. It's easy to import Region 1 discs (at least here where I am) too - and they are often cheaper than the Region 2 one's as well. !!!!

I really thought this whole regional thing would have died the death by now -- no wonder the torrent sites are still in business.

Do you really think people these days will wait A YEAR once a popular movie is released ANYWHERE on the planet any more.

    Cheers
    jimbo

The reason, simply stated, and in the words of a movie exec:

    BECAUSE WE'RE HOLLYWOOD, B****ES!!
