Windows 7: How many times have you installed Windows 7?

24 Oct 2009   #11

Windows 7 Professional x64

I installed the Beta and RC the first days they were available. I installed the RTM and then about 10 days ago, I installed Win 7 x64 Pro from MSDNAA. Hopefully, I won't have to do another install on this computer for a while.

My next planned install is when I build my new computer with tax refund money.

W8 Pro, W7 Ultimate, XP Pro x64, Vista x64, Ubuntu

Actual counting would be impossible without going through about 4 notebooks. But just for kicks I could make a rough estimate using the following:
1. Just counting my own PCs (7) and not others' I've installed W7 on.
2. Starting just before 6801 @ end of July '08 until the TechNet RTM I've got around 90 GB of .iso's on a data drive, which @ 3GB each build (avg. between x86 & x64) would be 30 builds).
3. I've probably installed each build at least 4x on each computer for various testing scenarios.
This would yield (7) x (30) x (4) = 840

I guess I wasn't too far off when I told someone the other day that I'll bet I've installed Windows 7 a thousand times. And what did I get for running the Windows Feedback Panel applet 24/7 for over a year? Office 2007 Pro (Phase I beta), W7 Ultimate (Phase II beta), W7 Ultimate (House Party). Nothing that my TechNet subscription doesn't already cover, really. I think what I really got from it was the satisfaction of watching a truly great Operating System grow from the ashes of Vista to what was released on Thursday.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1

I used to reinstall vista and xp like every other week. I switched back and forth between operating systems because I couldn't find one I liked. Since receiving my signature version of Ultimate, I haven't looked back (or reinstalled). I guess that means I'm finally happy.

Linux CENTOS 7 / various Windows OS'es and servers

Hi all
Probably as many times as I've had hot dinners or as many mm there are in a "standard piece of string".

However I think my current setups are going to be stable now

( 2X Enterprise X-64, 1X Pro x-64, 1X pro x-86, 5X home premium x-64)

Did a lot of work in last 2 weeks getting our home network all up running with fixes etc.

Am now busy in switching from SUSE server to W2008 R2 server for the main server.

Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit SP1

I forgot the first Beta installation in Virtual PC 2007. Didn't care for that, so went 'full time'
