    Is medical allowed? . . . .

. . . if so, I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with spine surgery that involves fusion?

    Thank you.

I think there is no objection to a medical question. But unfortunately I cannot really help you with this one. Although I have 1 disc missing, I am not going to get the adjacent vertebras fused. Have heard too many negative stories.

I got some very good pills (that have no side effects) that help when I have pains. Chewing all the time on Ibuprofen is not recommended. Will hurt the kidneys.

    Grits,
I am a prime candidate for spinal fusion and my problem is I am a care giver for my wife so the time in the hospital and re-hab time is out of the question.
Here is a video for you to look at and a site for all your questions.
Spinal Fusion Surgery Video: Spine Fusion Back Surgery to Reduce Back Pain

Do Not and I repeat Do Not rush into this without doing your homework.
Was told by my Neuro Surgeon there is a 50% chance of it working or making it worse. It all depends on the patient and severity of the spine.

    Best of luck,
    Dennis

I too have been leery of the fusion. Mine is actually my neck, not lower back like most articles seem to refer to. And don't really have pain so much as numbness & clumsiness of hands. Nope, not rushing at all, been 2 years since my diagnosis but seems like it's getting worse, maybe just more of the 'Golden Years.

You'd think that in this day of technology they'd have this type of surgery more like hip & knee replacement.
I did skim through the video site & bookmarked it.
