Scott, you are absolutely right on that. Who wants any of those social sites. I take the highway any time they want to link me to Facebook or any of the other nuisance services (or disservices).

Whew! Glad to hear that maybe I'm not being a little silly about this. I don't like being "forced" to do anything, much less something I feel strongly about. Thanks to all for the support!
You are definitely not being silly. I could tell you how you ought to respond to them, but that kind of language would not be appropriate here.

I have never used FB or anything like it. Any site that requires it I don't want to be on.
Any body I want to contact I use the phone or email and that is seldom.
Where did this great urge come from that everybody has to be friends with everybody in the world and share personal thoughts information.

Another little gem that irks me is the mobile number demand for "account security" reasons...

Agreed, although this can be a great security feature. I like the 2 way authentication method. I have it turned on for a few of my accounts. Works well.

I have a mobile phone but will not give them the number. If they need that number, then I don't need them.

Exactly, I don't even have the urge to call anyone from the house. If it was not for her mother who needs to call 3 times each day (even when we are in Europe), I probably would not even have a phone. But I guess women need that thing.

I just kept clicking remind me later, then they wanted me to change my password every 2 weeks for so called suspicious activity, but it never showed any suspicious activity when I checked.

If you want new Yahoo account though, you need a number...
