Here's a list of the 3 compounds they make. There is no arctic silver 2 or arctic silver 3, only 5.

I don't think any detailed difference was ever listed. Just "New and improved". The idea being AS5 is the best. Remember seeing a test comparison between 3 and 5 (apparently they skipped 4 because the number 4 represents death in Japan [Four is sometimes pronounced shi, which is also the word for death.], a large market for them), and there was virtually no difference. Long term, or usability were not mentioned.

yeah i kinda think that i am S.O.L. the only thing that i can figure is the amount of sliver that was in it. maybe some of the other components. any way as old as the syringes are it still preforms excellent. i was just curious. thanks. poorguy

Arctic silver 5 may cost a little more then some Thermal Compounds but its about the best (just my opinion)

i agree. i use arctic silver 5 and always have excellent temp results even with stock HSF cooling. i do still have 2 almost full syringes of arctic silver 2 & 3 that is still good. was just curious what the difference was if any. i also have used white transistor paste and also have excellent temp results with stock HSF cooling. thanks. poorguy

There's many worse than AS5, the pundits get all excited about some that will get a 5C decrease, that's insignificant to me. I've always used AS5, even taking some GPUs apart and applied it.

i like arctic silver it has given me excellent temp results. i really don't know if i ever have noticed any real temp change after the settle in time and cycling thermal times that are recommended by arctic sliver. i just apply and use check temps using speedfan. it also seems to last without drying up as i leave it on for years. i don't think you need to reapply like every year or two like i read on forums. blow the dust out of my desktops once a year with an air hose and never have had any problems with temps. and besides it is only going to be as cool as your ambient room temp is. poorguy

AS used to claim it takes 200 heat/cold cycles it to cure. Every time I've taken a cooler off it has still been soft and pliable, which is good.
