LA Earthquake
Has anyone in CA felt a earthquake? It was so scary!
I felt the trailing edge of the 5.1 main one. The 4.4 we had on the 17th of March was a lot more powerful where I'm at.
Me & my wife got to wake up one Sunday morning at 5:12 AM for the Big Bear/Landers quake. I think that was a 6.5 Enough shaking to keep us from running down the hall to get out.
Not a fun way to wake up.
So, being that everyone was awake, we & the neighbors went to breakfast. While sitting next to a large window in the restaurant, the 5.3 aftershock hit.
Fun morning.....
Born and raised in the SF Bay Area, I always liked a minor quake that caused no damage. Sit still to get the whole ride :)
Only one quake made me worry it wasn't going to stop, and made me run out of the building
1989 Loma Prieta earthquake - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
While it caused significant damage, for me, it was just the power was off when I got home. It did make me jumpy for a month or so after. I live in an apartment building, and when people run along the balcony or up stairs, it makes a small shake. That made me tense up for a while. There is something very unsettling to having the earth shake under you. The Big One will be a major life change/event, if it happens in my lifetime, and I survive. Not worried, que sera sera...
A Guy
Yea it must bit a bit unsettling to ride one out,
Living in Texas we get to live with flooding mostly/ high winds..,
But yea the closest I've come across was a noisy stair climber thought it was a 7.5 - 350 pounder
Ahhh I don't worry about those anymore after The Big SF Quake during the Giants game and The Northridge Quake this is just small potatoes
I remember at one point in the early 90's we had a ton of Earthquakes that year Whittier Quake too
So i mean what are you going to do besides hide under something you can't run from The Ground
Besides I'd rather take a 30 second shaking then to endure a endless Hurricane storm that last for Days or a Tornado that will whisk you into the air and drop you to the ground with no mercy
If the ground doesn't open up and take you down i just look at it as another good day on Earth
