And we always thought the Chinese were riding bikes. Times have really changed. Some German automobile manufacturers sell most of their cars in China now - even more than in Germany.

Walking or biking wouldn't help.
Their are a lot of cars in the traffic jam but their are billions on bikes and walking.
I think it's time to stay where you are in Bejing. Hopefully a pub and wait it out.

This is where having a moped/motorcycle comes in handy. You couldn't go fast, but at least you'd be getting somewhere. (drive on the median?)
