    Tragedy in my neighborhood

This morning school violence happened in my small neighborhood. The high school is only three blocks away from me. A high school girl was killed by a classmate because she refused to go to the junior prom with him tonight.
He has now been formally charged with murder.

The prom has been cancelled and all the kids are holding a candlelight vigil for her on Walnut Beach just a few feet away from me. The parents of the girl are asking everyone who plans on attending the vigil to wear their formal prom outfits. The media circus is covering the whole thing.

For the first time I can remember, my whole neighborhood is eerily quiet.

Saddest thing I've heard in a long time. Condolences to the family of that poor little girl, who had her whole life ahead of her.

Unfortunately, with our justice system, that kid's lawyer will probably put the blame on the victim.

In any event, if he is incarcerated, he'll be out by the time he's 21 - what a crock of Sh**.

Too bad we don't have old Western Law.

Just watched the incident on the evening news.
My condolences to the family and community for their loss of one iconic student.

Should be tried as an adult and given the death penalty or life sentence without parole.

The latest on the news says he won't go before a judge until Monday.
Then the judge will decide if he will be charged as an adult or juvenile.

I think if they go with charging him as an adult, he will never get out of prison. Ct. did away with the death penalty.

This just proves even the smallest, safest, tightest neighborhood will never be safe.
    No matter where it is.
