I was just updating a leaderboard and saw his name in it. He didn't have a great GPU but took part all the same. Little reminders that he loved every part of the forum and enjoyed getting involved in everything.

He is in my thoughts every day.

    The Howling Wolves said:
There is a side note that I must post as it tells you a lot about the owner(John) and his right hand man(Shawn) and a few of us who played a part in his services.

Once I found out about Gary's passing I called Pam and found out he had no insurance and Pam was distraught on how she was going to pay for his cremation and wake.
I told Pam not to worry just find out how much it was going to cost and get back to me. Once I found out I got in touch with Steve(Essenbe) and included John to let him know what was going on.

To make a long story short my way was to complicated so John stepped up and said everything was taken care. Shawn wired the money to Pam to cover both the cremation and wake. Steve's, mine and and Aussie named John(ICit2lol) covered whatever else she needed.

I am telling you this because it is not often heard of for a owner(John/Shawn) of a company let alone a forum to pay for funeral services for virtual members. Our contribution was just icing on the cake for Pam and her cost to provide a very nice service for our good friend Gary.

So many thanks goes out to John and Shawn for a job well done. It speaks volumes of your care and concerns of your members who are in need. We all are proud to be part of not just another forum but a GREAT FORUM that not only helps others with their computer problems but are there for those who truly need assistance for other things closer to their hearts.

This should close out our RIP thread for Gary but not our daily thoughts of him and his family.
The same goes for Randy(Noobvious) who passed a week or so afterwards.

Lynn Johnston, the cartoonist for "For Better or for Worst", has retired but has been rerunning her old strips. She often comments on the motivation for a particular daily strip. Here is what she wrote for today's strip (08/01/2014). I feel it conveys why many of us here grieve the loss off Gary.

This sentiment reflects the feeling I had when my women friends moved away from Lynn Lake. In this small town, good friends kept me sane. When my friend Nancy Lawn left for Edmonton, I told her I was happy for her, and I really was! I congratulated her husband on his promotion and transfer, and I earnestly wished them well. As they drove away, I waved and smiled until their car disappeared, and then I cried. I cried for all the good times we could have had. I cried for me.
