The first newsgroup I posted in (anyone remember usenet?) was an economic group back in 1991. I was faced with needing a "handle" for the first time and the first thing that popped into my head was a term paper I had written in school for an Economics Systems class on Thorstein Veblen. I liked the irony created by combining TV (opiate to the masses) with Veblen's economic theories in TVeblen. Anyone who has studied economics would get that joke (so far: 2).

Since then I have used many Usernames, pretty much a different one in every group or forum, but I continue to use TVeblen in forums I consider "serious".

Interestingly I have found 5 other TVeblens out in the interwebs. One of them is certifiable. One day I will need to hunt him down and fix that.

Kari is my real first name, fifth most popular name given to boys in the year I was born in Finland.

Freaky with it is that I was named after my cousin who was born two months prematurely to my aunt and died the same day. My aunt asked her brother, my father to give me the same name when she heard my mother became pregnant quite soon after her own son Kari was born and died. My parents respected the wish, I got both my first and middle names from him: Kari Juhani.

The computer part is because I am a computer. Just kidding, I just like them obviously. The 0304 part is because I add 0 to a number for no reason often and 304 because on a calculator, when you turn it upside down, it spells hoe. And hoes are awesome. Well, the more bigger reason is a secret.

Another fun fact, both my first name and last name combined is one of the most common combinations in Korea. It is even the name of a famous Korean actor. But I can't tell anyone the exact name. If I were to use my real name in the web, it would be impossible to find the real me especially on Korean websites.

Yup, that's a classic. But according to Wikipedia, varients of it were made until 2007. What a blast from the past it is, right? If only I was alive when it first started production.

C-11 was the number of a truck I drove while refueling helicopters back in the late 1970's.

Station to C-11 on a CB radio at that time.

I go by Flatiron on other forums.
