My experience was similar to yours Lee. Sixties saw me in school but early Seventies I began my Naval career which lasted a quarter of a century.

Many people can recall where they were and what they were doing when they heard that President Kennedy had been shot. I was only 8 or 9 but I can recall it being on the TV.
On the very next night I watched the first episode of Doctor Who, with the original Doctor, William Hartnell. A spooky old man.
The two memories are connected in my mind.
I remember on Saturday nights when we gathered around the radio and mentally watched ....but listened to
Gene Autry, Suspense, and I think Suspicion.
Our first tv had more snow on screen than outside our windows....This was in Minnesota where there was so much snow during winter season we had to shovel it off baseball field during Easter break just to play.
Those were the good old days...
