Guess my avatar (80's gaming question)

If you're under 30 you're probably to young to know this

If you never played games you're out of luck

Last hint(for now): This was my favorite game because it was different from all other games. Why? That's revealed in the picture.....

I'm neither too young nor too old (for more or less anything) but I admit that this thread's meaning escapes me.

How about publishing a manual? ;-)

Ok, more hints:

The avatar picture (to the left of this text) is from a specific game launched in the mid 80's. What game?
The unique thing about it is visible in the picture - the extra lives you had
I'm not sure but I think the game was more popular in the UK than the US. It could be played on different types of computers at the time. One type of computer was more popular in the UK

With the high number of users on this site I thought someone would get this pretty quick, but not yet. Here's more hints:

The 5 "guys" in the picture are your lives. The one in front is the one you play with, the others are your extra lives. But they're in the game to ALL THE TIME and can get killed anytime. You can't control the extra lives other than blocking them, they simply go straight forward as long as they have a clear path. This was very different from other games and one of the reasons it was my favorite.

They look quite phallic.

Quick gaming question
I recently bought a new PC and I'm wondering what kind of hardware I'd need to be able to play games with a 24+ constant framerate. Currently the only games I've tried were far cry 2 and Battlefield Bad Company 2 but due to the low framerate, this rendered the games unplayable. I am currently...

After two weeks of trying to setup a dual boot using the tutorials here. I find out the Bios in my Dell Studio 1558 Laptop will not allow Windows XP install. I have a very nice Olypmpus P-440 Thermal photo printer. This printer was discontinued by Olympus 2 or 3 years ago, so no new driver updates...
