Today I set up the replacement motherboard. I got a brand new one, packed. Done another clean reinstall of windows 10 on it, but it took some time there. I found that if I do it using a bootable USB, I cannot use UEFI. So burned the iso on a disc again and did the clean reinstall.

    Everything is working perfectly now.

    Good news Archie.

Did you try this to create a bootable USB installer. How to create UEFI bootable USB to install Windows 8.1. Don't know whether it works as I don't have anything to try it on.

No, I did not try it .... I simply used Rufus, nothing else.

Saved the link. :) Will follow it next time. Thanks for the info Keith. :)

Also here in Option One: UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows.

Watch that the settings shown in the picture don't jump around once you add the ISO. It needs to be exact. Then boot it as a UEFI device.

That Rufus sure gets around :) Glad you are up and running again. How are you surviving the boring theme?
