Today I got many things done and feel accomplished. Tomorrow I will be hosting the meat raffle at the American Legion and trying to raise money to help fellow Vets. Then Monday is off to 2 Legion meetings on where to best delegate said monies. Sheesh could I get any more stretched? It is all good though. I volunteer because I am still able bodied and still can. It's definitely a good feeling.

We have a current Vet in need and I would ask like anyone that feels that they can help to please look here. I ask for nothing but if there is any help to be offered. I know how generous fellow Vets and Geeks can be.

PS. I forgot to mention that the VA got him childcare vouchers, Our Post 81 raised 1200.00 to get him into a section 8 home (deposits still required in AZ) and a FULL U-haul of furniture, Clothing and toys that Doug, Connie ( Pictured with Mr. Vargas and kids) My wife and Myself delivered and unloaded 2 weeks ago Sunday.

    Well done Herb.
Veterans help veterans put tears in my eyes. I do believe those children and their grand parents are going to have a good life under the watchful eye of your American Legion post 81.

I belong to the V.F.W and Amvets. Most people in a community don't know how vets help vets or how much help veteran organizations put into the community as a whole.

Veterans help me in a lot of small ways most would think. I think of them as big things.

If I need transportation they are there.
If I spend time in the hospital they are there.
When I'm in the hospital a veteran friend drop by my house and feeds my cat and takes care of her litter box. A great big mean ass Marine. Picture that and a litter box.
Marines are proud but not to proud to help this sailor in need even with a litter box when needed.
One takes me shopping for grocery's and pushes the cart because I can't push the cart once it's about half full.
One drops by now and again just to see if I'm still alive. I keep the phone unplugged unless I call out.
I donate to the V.F.W. things like freezers, T.V.'s, stereos, lawn equipment and they just store it until another veteran needs them or the next raffle needs items.
As a veteran club we donate clothing new and used to the Salvation Army and Goodwill and so many other things. When on holidays their are American Flags on all the lamp post along the the main roads. People in my community have no idea how they got there and who took them down when need. Well veterans and veterans organizations got them, put them up and remove them when needed to be.
People think the city and city workers put them there. No way in my city.
Their are just lots of things veterans organizations do for the community where I'm located that the community doesn't even know because the local news paper doesn't like veterans or veterans clubs. We just keep plugging away helping others.

I'm just posting this because like Herb's American Legion post 81 that has done a great job helping that family it's not over. I will bet that help will be given in the future for that family if needed and by who, American Legion post 81 and its members.

I also wanted people to know in my small life veterans help me. Other so called friends that are not veterans either forget I exist or steal from me when they no I can't do anything about it.

Veterans help veterans and communities they live in.

Layback Bear, a old but still alive smoke boat sailor.

Off to do my part by being the MC for our meat raffle. The above link goes to a GoFundMe account for this Veteran in need. Please share where you can. We have also contacted local and state media in hopes of getting more attention as he still needs a vehicle to cart around four boys under the age of seven.

Have a great Sunday my friends and I will keep you informed if you like just message me and let me know.

Well, today the power went out for a second and came back. I think it is not a surge as the lights did not brighten. Thankfully, my desktop was not on and my laptop was unplugged. But my desktop was plugged in though... I hope that it's ok.

It's not the powering off that does the damage although not a great thing to happen when a computer is on,
But the quick power on that will do most of the firing
Battery power backup systems are a good investment.
