    My misery with ATT internet

Every month of May when we go to Germany for the summer I had put my ATT internet on hold. They always did that for a small fee. This year they said that this was not possible - we had to cancel the service and reinstate it upon our return.

That's what we did and 3 weeks ago we called to reinstate the service. They said it would be up and running on Nov. 7. Of course on Nov. 7 when we came back we had no internet. I called ATT on Saturday the 8th and got 4 different stories ranging from 'they do not provide any sevice in my area' to 'they switched to fiber optic' to 'there are no available ports in our area'. I got so fed up with those morons after spending 5 hours on the phone that I called the ATT presidents office.

I got one of the AAs who confirmed that there are indeed no more available ports. He would look into it on Monday (the required department does not work on the weekend). He also said that I should not have cancelled the service in the first place and that the information they gave me in May was wrong.

On Monday I called our cable company and they offered a much better deal than ATT (internet and phone) for less money. I went with that. What I did not know was that they had to drill holes into my walls because I had no cable outlet in my office - but at least I now have internet.

How in the hell did you get the Presidents office of ATT?

Which cable provider did you get?

I was looking into Time Warner until I found out they are at the top of a list of companies providing the poorest customer support. It's done off shore to the Philippines or India. They seem to be very friendly but are poorly trained.

I got a local provider - Brighthouse. Everybody around here raves about them. Their main office is just down the street. If they give me problems, I go down and see their president personally.
