Layback Bear, I love classical music too, but that genre isn't suitable for covers because almost every classical performance is a cover. Most famous composers of classical music have been dead for centuries, there aren't any available performances(albums or recordings) by the original artist, making it very different from all other genres.
The definition of a cover song refers to "popular music" according to Wikipedia

No worries. I could've explained better. Beethoven is still a genius. Not just suitable for the meaning of a "cover"
