This is what I've always thought about homes and dust. The older the house, the more the dust. Our house is big, but was built in 1945 and it is prone to get more dust. We have Central Heating and Air. I noticed when I shipped my desktop off for a repair the other day, it had some dust on the fan. So, if Acer didn't clean it then I will do it myself with some air cans.

1.) Get you some compressed air cans and keep them handy for your computers.

2.) A friend from church suggested I get some sort of filter for it.

    Hope this helps!

Humidifiers increase the moisture content in the air and this will probably result in condensate deposition...
    I use this room air purifier Go-Clair | Premium Air Purifiers with e2f technology. . Just cost me $159 . I actually .. .
I just went through the link you shared as well . I just checked few room air purifiers similar to these . I heard most of these room air purifiers which cost less gets expensive in the long run as you have to keep changing the filters so I'm a bit skeptical .The one I'm considering costs $500 and has a permanent filter.
I think you have a slight misconception here regarding room air purifiers . By permanent filters I think you you mean electrostatic room air purifiers right ? They aren't as effective as the HEPA room air purifiers . Check this article Ionic air purifiers' dirty little secret: They don't get rid of dust - LA Times. This will give you a fair idea about these electrostatic air purifiers . As mentioned in this article electrostatic room air purifiers don't really get rid of the dust and most of it just tend to settle as static cling and they release ozone which is a lung irritant.

On the other-hand HEPA room air purifiers have filter fibers which are designed to capture not only dust, mold spores ,etc but virus as well and wrt filter replacement not all room air purifier filters have to be replaced every few months . For instance these Clair air purifiers I recommended have filters which can be easily cleaned by vacuuming and need replacement just once in 12-18 months . Since you have static dust problem you can use a room air purifier in conjunction with dust filter for your PC . If you prevent the dust from accumulating in the first place there won't be any static cling.
