Thank You, Layback Bear and Night Hawk I agree with you both.

Even free it is going to be a hard sell.

Night Hawk are you trying to do an upgrade install or clean install on the second hard drive and is partition on both drives GPT or MBR? If you have Grub boot manager you would need to disable it temporally and use windows boot loader, Windows 10 will fail to install if Grub is the boot manager is loaded during install and first few reboots. No need to disable Grub for Windows updates, just new builds. I am up pass my bed time, I need to get some , I will responded if needed at a later time. One other thing have you tried an upgrade install on the 2nd hard drive?

When I get ready to install any OS I simply nuke the drive or partition in some cases totally clean. If I get the preview on in time that will be a clean full install the way it comes on a fresh primary with the 7 drive unplugged. The second HD also being a Sata II will automatically become the first in the order since the two storage drives are S3 drives mounted differently at post time as SCSI.

Presently the only Linux OS is Linux Mint I use on live flash drives. I just picked up a pair of 128gb drives to suppliment the live data recovery stick I made with that distro. So the drive will be MBR plus no fuss with any dual boot with 7 set up after the mishap with the 8 beta!

The secure boot brought in then caused a number of errors on both drives resulting in both 7 and 8 no longer able to boot past the welcome screen when a refresh of 8 added 7 in automatically. I did have 8 added into the 7 BCD however at first without any issue. Booting live from the 7 dvd and running the Disk Check bailed the 7 install out and 8 got tossed. W10 is a slightly different animal however and if I do decide to run it it will be isolated from 7 as a stand alone since 7 was the last for ease in that area.

ok, after reading most of these, my question to those in the know is

can i uninstall any of the bloat that i do not want? can i uninstall everything to do with the cloud, bing and any of that crap? and not the uninstall that leaves a ton of shit on the computer "just in case you want to come back", but fully uninstall and not lose function of the computer. will the store be accessed every time i start to type something or will i be able to uninstall or at the very least never activate it?

basically, i do not care one bit about "live tiles" or any of the idiotic updates they can bring, i have those saved in my favorites when i want to read the news, check my email or whatever else i need to do. i do not want to access the store everytime i type, just in case there is something there that may match what i am looking for. if i need that, i will go look,i do not need or want a program to do it for me.

the only thing i would be looking forward to would be the minor performance enahancemennts, but none of them are worth it to me if all that crap is going to be there.

Well so far I know Bing can't be removed,
Many others can't either only removed from the navigation pane not exactly the same as total removal,
But most are not activated when using a local account instead of a Microsoft account.

Microsoft has hidden the local account listings a bit but last I installed it is still an option you just have to look for it,

Anything listed on the start menus all apps page can be right clicked and if uninstall does not appear can't be removed/ easily anyway

If Bing search isn't your thing you have to remove the cortana search and add the local search/ magnifying glass icon instead to the taskbar and use it.
Which I believe is Winkey+S to use it instead of just the winkey :/

I just installed the latest WTP build as a clean install in a VM.
I didn't see the choice to use a local account during the install, so i used my MS Outlook account.
Guess i didn't look hard enough

I'd like to know how to install with a local account !
If i can clean up a HD, i plan to install WTP as a bare metal install.

I can say the clean install performs much better than my prior WTP VM that was updated a few times to the latest version.

Window 10 will have a lot of new things that some will take a liking to.
    So did Windows 8.

So far I'm not seeing a lot of new things in Windows 10 that I want or need.
I really don't want to need a T1 carbon fiber internet to have to keep up with things. Thinking again, I would like to have the fastest internet connection that is possible. I just don't want to need it to do my computing.

I surly don't want to put all my personal stuff in a cloud and talk to it.

I have absolutely no problems with my information and programs being on my computers and not in a cloud. Actually I prefer it that way for security.

Syncing to me is just a better way on syncing one infected device or program to all your hardware and programs in all your devices.

I have never like Bing anything and I surly don't want it jumping up every time i start typing.

I have yet to figure out what is so bad about the control panel in Windows 7. Mine works just fine.

I also don't know what is so difficult about having your selected icons on your taskbar and desktop for easy use. Somebody is trying to reinvent the wheel here.
I have no problem ticking on a icon to open a browser of program. How much simpler can it get.
Keep in mind I don't use pretty pictures on my desktop because I'm seldom there. When I am there it to use a icon that isn't on my taskbar.

I don't use sleep getup, hybernate or wake up you lazy ass computer.
When I'm on the computer I'm really on it. When I'm not on the computer it is off.

I do realize we have members that want these new thing and some actually need them. But not me.

So far Windows 10 is a tricked Windows 8 with some changes to the Start to get away from the mess they had with Windows 8. When they do start selling Windows 10 and I decide to buy it, I want to be able to buy a DVD made by Microsoft and install it. Then tuck the DVD in a nice little plastic box with it's COA and put it in my desk. I still have the Microsoft DVD for adding the Security Update to XP Pro. I don't want to have to make something with a download that takes forever with my DSL and risk a problem with the download or burn.

For me so far I would like to buy something like they had in the days of Windows 98 and paying for a upgrade to Windows 98-SE.

Make my Windows 7 better and charge me for it.
Windows 7-SE sounds good to me.

I know it's never going to happen; just some wishful thinking.

Easiest way to use a local account without looking at all is to disconnect from the internet during install,
It also saves about 20-30 minutes from the install time to desktop
