Can I get Wifi pre-paid phone to replace land line in the U.S.? We don't receive a lot of calls. Doctors, Social Security, relatives hardly ever call us. We are basically wasting money on a phone. Someone said you can make & receive free wifi calls.

Wi-Fi is a Wireless connection between a computer and a Router. What you may have in mind is Magic Jack.

Only experience I've had with it was trying to set it up on Satellite Internet Service, didn't work as the slight delay between send and receive broke the phone connection.

    Berton,
That wasn't it. The way the person talked is you could make and receive free phone calls using a tracfone that is wifi capable. It might be something similar to this but I am not sure.

SIP is an open protocol. Anyone can use it, and anyone who has a SIP address can contact anyone else who has one for free.
