    Retiring from SevenForums

5000 posts or on completion of four years of indulgence here ( that falls on 25 Jul 2015) was the date I had decided to retire from this great forum months ago. And this is my 5000th post that came 10 days early. I had sounded this even in a post sometime back and maxie asked why I am leaving. I did not answer. If I have to then I have to say it was an instinct. I am simply tired of doing the same thing again and again - recovering data and want to shut off. I have done enough in the last four years and I am glad that I had helped many. ( Of course many couldn't be helped for various reasons, but that is part of the game.)

During these four years I had had a great pleasure collaborating with the greats like gregrocker, cottonball, Kaktussoft,Slartybart,Anshad Edavana, NoelDP - just to mention a few - , on a few threads. Other than that most were mostly a single run :) and that perhaps has gotten me tired. When a more competent Anshad Edavana appeared on the scene, I was immensely happy that I could take a back seat but unfortunately that did not happen. And Kaktussoft also left . ( Both had to give precedence to their career for life sustenance.)

Lots of seniors like zigzag ( in the early days), kado, essenbe, whs and the like kept on encouraging and prodding me :). But for them I wouldn't have lasted even this four years.:)

It is now for the more technically competent and energetic younger generation like GokAy to carry on.

    ( I would still be a guest watcher :) )

    Hi Jumanji.

If you decide to not post for help, that will be a great loss, but when a person like you decide it, it must have some rational there.

We were never very close and we did not share threads that much .... but I read your posts regularly, and my hat is always off for you.

Hope you will be around us whenever you can. Have a good peaceful life, sir.

jumanji slow down a bit and enjoy the forum.

I do monitor your threads and posts a lot.
I don't post because you do such a great job and it's way over my head.

The threads you focus on are very hard problems to fix and need the OP to follow instructions exactly as you request but many times that isn't being done. It must be very frustrating for you.

Just hang around and jump in when you feel like it.
I like helping people on this forum like most of us do. I try not to make it a job.
That is my method of sanity. Try it, you might like it.

    Just a thought

A wise man once told me he use to run 5 miles a day but no longer could.
He decided to not stop running but just run a mile a day.

^ Your analysis is dot on target - not to make it a job ( that seems to be impossible for me once I poke in my nose ). Only a mile a day - a good quote and suggestion I appreciate. May be I should try both. Try the impossible as well as the possible .

The quote is from a close friend of Layback Bear.
    I call him Jack.

Your welcome to use the quotes if you would like to.
