I was thinking of maybe a nice picture of a wet T Shirt contest. I like Golden's idea, add some flowers. Maybe Apple tree blossoms.

    In print:
Sorry, we have to shut down. We will miss you.

    Here you go.

Yes that works well. Not scary at all. Could use a little more wetness.

It could be something like that shutdown thing except it says:
    Windows:
Windows has ran into a problem and needs to shutdown. Problem:
    NTOSKRNL.exe

    > Dev info

    ___________
    |Shutdown. |
    ------------------
Or if recoverable it will have Continue as a button.

Oh that would actually be really neat! Under the list of programs that would be needed to closed normally would be a list of items that Windows will try to save progress on. At the bottom of the screen, there would be some small text saying the problem, in comprehensible form. For example:
"No more memory left for Windows; System overload."
    "Graphics card error."
    "Ruined registry"
"No reason, because it is fun :) hehe"

With some nice, slow animations, friendly interface, and no jumpscares, this sounds pretty nice. Maybe in a new service pack (All other versions got 3, and 2000 got 4. Windows 7 has only had one).
And, upon restart, at the user selection and password screens, there is a button at the button to open the log of what happened and another one to copy it to the administrator's clipboard when he/she logs on, to put it on here. When you press the Clipboard button, it gives you the option of doing ^above^ or saving it to "My Documents" on all users or just one user.
