    Anyone use Mega?

    Hi all,

So obviously have most of you have probably heard Mega Upload was taken down by the FBI a few years ago. The owner Kim has since started up 'Mega' MEGA

Does anyone here use the service? If so what do you think of it?

I've only just started using it for large files though have also downloaded the Sync program. Very similar to DropBox though I feel Mega is more secure, lightweight & bigger storage.

I don't think very highly of it at all. I tried them a year or two back and never could get it to work. Their so-called tech help said it was because I use Internet Explorer, claiming it was to hard to program. I had the divil's own time trying to get them to close the account for me since I couldn't get in to do it myself. Their customer service was anything but. I have a very low opinion of their programmers and wouldn't trust MEGA any further than I can spit upwind in a stiff wind.

I use Carbonite.com and, now that they brought their help desk back to the U.S. a few years ago, I haven't had any trouble with them. Others you may consider are CrashPlan and Backblaze. You will have to pay more with them but they are far more reliable and well worth the cost.

Downloading in Mega is fine but I also had issues with them. I now use mediafire.

Ahhh well thanks all for the feedback.I thought quite a few of you would have been using it.

However I shall keep having a play around with Mega anyway.

Just make sure MEGA (or, for that matter, any other cloud storage site or any other media) isn't the only place you have your data. That will ensure you won't lose your data if the site goes down again.

Hmm yes very true. I normally keep my important stuff on DropBox & Google Drive anyway.
